The invention relates to a method for charging an accumulator (4) of an electrically driven vehicle (3), in which a charging process of the accumulator (3) is carried out by means of a charging device (6) of the vehicle (3), in a first phase of which the accumulator (4) is charged with a first DC voltage (U1) of a charging source (2) as a function of a charging current (IL) of the charging source (2), and in a second phase of which the accumulator (4) is charged with a second DC voltage (U2) of the charging source (2) as a function of a charging current (IL) of the charging source (2). A battery voltage (UBatt) of the accumulator (3) during the charging process (6) is determined, the battery voltage (UBatt) of the accumulator (4) is compared with a charging voltage of the charging source (2), the transformer (7) is operated as a function of the comparison of the battery voltage (UBatt) with the charging voltage, in a second phase of the charging process following the first phase, the accumulator (4) is charged with a second DC voltage (U2) of the transformer (7) as a function of a choke current (ID) of the transformer (7). The invention also relates to a charging system (1).
