The invention relates to a trunk variable-diameter tensioning type pipeline detection robot based on flexible chain transmission, which solves the technical problem of how to develop a flexible robot with stronger adaptability, stronger flexibility, higher flexibility and higher degree of freedom of movement, and comprises a trunk, a rotatable flexible chain, a flexible chain rotation driving device and four groups of wire drawing devices, the trunk is composed of a framework, four steel wires and a plurality of cylindrical rollers, the rotatable flexible chain comprises a plurality of chain links which are connected in series through an annular rubber track, the rotatable flexible chain is connected with the framework in a sliding mode, and the flexible chain rotation driving device is used for driving the rotatable flexible chain to rotate and circularly move. The device is widely applied to detection and maintenance of pipelines, valves and tank type containers.
