The invention discloses an intelligent safety supervision system and method for a cantilever crane. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, acquiring operation parameters, namely speed and load, of the cantilever crane, then, monitoring and evaluating the operation state of the cantilever crane based on the operation parameters, giving an alarm and an instruction to control the cantilever crane to stop or adjust when an abnormal or dangerous condition is found, and then, controlling the cantilever crane to stop or adjust. The operation state and the safety rating information of the cantilever crane are displayed on a screen, and corresponding operation and management functions are provided. Therefore, the problems of low efficiency, low accuracy and poor timeliness caused by manual periodic or regular inspection can be avoided, so that the supervision effect is improved, the accident risk is reduced, and the working efficiency is improved.
