A knee bolster assembly for a vehicle seat includes a knee bolster movably mounted proximate the vehicle seat. The knee bolster can selectively move between a first position and a second position, when the knee bolster moves to the first position, the passenger can enter and exit the vehicle seat, and when the knee bolster moves to the second position, the knee bolster is directly located in front of the seat surface of the vehicle seat, so that the legs of the passenger sitting in the vehicle seat are located between the seat surface of the vehicle seat and the knee bolster. The knee bolster is used for preventing an occupant in an automobile seat from sliding forwards out of the seat and limiting any excessive extension of the lower limbs of the occupant due to forward inertia. The energy absorbing device is adapted to absorb energy when knees or legs of an occupant in the vehicle seat strike the knee bolster.
