The pole climbing robot comprises a main machine frame, hip joint machine frames, thigh machine frames, knee joint machine frames, shank machine frames, ankle machine frames, foot plate frames and climbers, wherein the hip joint machine frames, the thigh machine frames, the knee joint machine frames, the shank machine frames, the ankle machine frames, the foot plate frames and the climbers are symmetrically installed on the two sides of the main machine frame. The hip joint racks are symmetrically fixed to the two sides of the main rack, fixing shafts are fixed to the hip joint racks, fixing gears are fixed to the fixing shafts, the thigh racks are connected with the fixing shafts through bearings, first motors are fixed to the thigh racks, output shafts of the first motors are fixed to first driving gears, and the first driving gears are connected with the fixing gears in an engaged mode. A second motor is fixed to the thigh rack, an output shaft of the second motor is fixed to a second driving gear, the side, away from the hip joint rack, of the thigh rack is connected with a rotating shaft through a bearing, a driven gear is fixed to the rotating shaft, the second driving gear is meshed with the driven gear, and the two ends of the rotating shaft are fixed to the knee joint rack. The pole-climber-imitating type pole-climbing robot can climb a pole, can climb over obstacles and is used for conveying equipment to the top of a telegraph pole.
