The invention relates to a device for building an elevator, comprising a hoistway (2) formed in a building (1), the hoistway (2) comprising at least one hoistway opening (O) leading from the hoistway (2) in the horizontal direction, the opening (O) being delimited by a lower edge structure (3) and an upper edge structure (4); and a load (9, 10) in the hoistway (1) below the opening (O); and lifting means (A; a '; a ''; a '''; a '''') for lifting the load (9, 10) wherein the lifting device (11 to 13) comprises a support structure (11; 11 '; 11 ''; 11 '''; 11 ''''; 11 ''''); and a lifting device (12); and at least one flexible tensioning member (13) connected or at least connectable to the load (9, 10); wherein the at least one flexible tensioning member (13) is movable with the lifting device (12), in particular for thereby transmitting a lifting force to the load (9, 10) to be lifted. The support structure (11) comprises an anchoring beam structure (110) comprising a lower end (111) engaging the lower edge structure (3) and an upper end (112) engaging the upper edge structure (4); and a support beam structure (113) connected to the anchoring beam structure (110) and protruding from the anchoring beam structure (110) into the hoistway (2); and wherein the at least one flexible tensioning member (13) is suspended in the hoistway supported by the support beam structure (113). The invention also relates to a method for implementing the construction device.
