The method comprises the steps that the warming-up time of the range extender is determined according to the temperature of cooling liquid of the range extender, and an engine in the range extender is controlled to conduct warming-up circulation at a preset rotating speed according to the warming-up time; after the warm-up circulation is finished, the power generation power of a range extender is determined according to the temperature of the cooling liquid and the speed of the range-extended electric vehicle, and the range extender is controlled to generate power according to the power generation power; after the electricity utilization power of a non-driving electric appliance in the extended-range electric vehicle is limited and energy recovery is carried out according to the maximum energy recovery power allowed by the extended-range electric vehicle, the latest driving power output by a battery of the extended-range electric vehicle is determined; according to the generated power of the range extender and the latest driving power output by the battery, the maximum speed of the range-extended electric vehicle capable of being stably driven in the low-temperature and low-battery discharge power scene is calculated, and the range-extended electric vehicle is controlled to run according to the maximum speed.
