The invention discloses an electric tire press for container crane wheels, which comprises: a box body, which comprises a lower box body and a support frame supported above the lower box body; the translation guide rail is supported on the lower box body and is arranged under the support frame; the number of the translation trolleys is two, and the translation trolleys are arranged on the translation guide rails and can move along the translation guide rails; the downward-pressing push rod mechanism is fixed to the supporting frame, and the downward-pressing push rod mechanism comprises a downward-pressing electric push rod arranged at the lower end of the downward-pressing push rod mechanism and a downward-pressing push rod motor for driving the downward-pressing electric push rod to move up and down; the downward pressing positioning mechanism is connected with the supporting frame; and the control box is electrically connected with the downward-pressing push rod mechanism and the downward-pressing positioning mechanism and controls the downward-pressing push rod mechanism and the downward-pressing positioning mechanism. The invention further provides an electric tire pressing method. The method is high in efficiency, safe and environmentally friendly.
