The invention discloses a method for detecting foreign matters in a gap between a platform screen door and a train door and a monitoring system.The platform area is provided with an ultrasonic detection system, the detection range of the ultrasonic detection system at least covers the gap between the platform screen door and the train door stopped at the platform, and the method is used for the ultrasonic detection system.
