The invention discloses a working method of a metallurgical skip bucket, based on the metallurgical skip bucket, the skip bucket comprises a frame for bearing the lifting load of the whole skip bucket; the bucket box is located between the side plates of the frame, and a rotating mechanism rotationally connected with the frame is arranged at the top end of the bucket box; the unloading guide wheel is arranged on one side of the bucket box, is close to the bottom end, is used as an external force applying fulcrum, and is used for driving the bucket box to rotate and incline relative to the frame so as to finish the unloading action; the gate is located at the bottom of the bucket box and is rotationally connected with the bucket box through a rotating hinge piece; the supporting lever mechanism is arranged between the gate and a chassis of the frame and is used for supporting the gate and ore in the bucket box in the rotating process of the bucket box; and the locking mechanism is used for locking the supporting lever mechanism. According to the invention, the unloading operation curve of the skip bucket is improved, and the safety and reliability of skip bucket operation are improved.
