The invention provides an elevator maintenance operation control device and a method thereof. The present invention makes it possible to easily secure safety even if the number of maintenance workers is reduced, without requiring a wireless remote control for a special operation and without simplifying the wireless remote control. The elevator maintenance operation control device controls the driving mechanism, can set the stopping height of the lift car to be different from the normal operation height for maintenance operation, and is provided with a plurality of hall operation parts which are arranged in halls and call the lift car; and a controller having a computer capable of controlling at least the stopping height of the elevator car according to the difference of command signals corresponding to the operation of the hall operation part, the controller controlling the driving mechanism of the elevator to be maintained so as to call the elevator car of the elevator to be maintained to a hall when a specific operation is detected to be performed on a given hall operation part, and to call the elevator car to be maintained to the hall when the specific operation is detected to be performed on the given hall operation part. The stop height is set to a height at which the maintenance personnel can move from the hall to a space immediately above or below the outside of the car.
