The invention discloses a parking space detection system and method, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a first distance, a second distance, and a third distance at the same time, the first distance being the distance between a first ultrasonic sensor module and an obstacle in a parking space, the second distance being the distance between a second ultrasonic sensor module and the obstacle in the parking space, and the third distance being the distance between the first ultrasonic sensor module and the obstacle in the parking space; the third distance is the distance between the third ultrasonic sensor module and an obstacle in the parking space; and judging whether the parking space is occupied according to the first distance, the second distance and the third distance.
