The present disclosure relates to a thermal management system (20) for a traction battery (18) of an electric vehicle (10). The thermal management system (20) comprises an actuator (22) for influencing a temperature of the traction battery (18), at least one microphone (34, 36, 37, 38) for detecting sound in an environment (30) of the thermal management system (20), and a control unit (32). The actuator (22) and the microphone (34, 36, 37, 38) are communicatively connected to the control unit (32) such that the actuator (22) can be controlled by the control unit (32) on the basis of a detection signal (D) of the at least one microphone (34, 36, 37, 38). The invention further relates to an electric vehicle (10) having a traction battery (18) and such a thermal management system (20). In addition, a method for operating a thermal management system (20) for a traction battery (18) of an electric vehicle (10) is disclosed. The method is applied during the charging of the traction battery (18).
