The invention discloses a method for operating an energy recovery boosting system (1) of a vehicle. The method comprises at least the following steps: detecting a slip state of a wheel; and controlling an energy recovery device (12) of the energy recovery boosting system (1) to recover brake energy in the wheel slipping process based on the detected slipping state of the wheel, so as to convert the brake energy into electric energy to be supplied to a power grid (13) of the energy recovery boosting system (1). The invention further relates to a corresponding energy recovery boosting system (1) for a vehicle and to a corresponding computer program product. According to some embodiments of the invention, energy loss caused by wheel slipping can be recovered, the energy efficiency of the vehicle is improved, and exhaust emission is reduced.
