The invention provides a system and method for acquiring vehicle information through a charging pile, and relates to the technical field of new energy vehicle charging. The system for acquiring the vehicle information through the charging pile comprises a slow charging pile, the slow charging pile is connected with a vehicle controller through awakening of a quick charging gun, and the vehicle controller is connected with the slow charging pile after feeding back a vehicle VIN code through CAN communication. The invention provides a method for obtaining vehicle information by a charging pile, and the method comprises the steps: adding a CAN line in a charging hole through the remaining empty hole positions, enabling the charging pile to transmit a VIN code request message after a gun is inserted, transmitting a stored VIN code to the charging pile through a BMS during charging, obtaining the VIN code vehicle information through the charging pile, and transmitting the VIN code vehicle information to the charging pile through the BMS. The system is a novel communication mode for obtaining vehicle information, and is faster and more convenient.
