The invention discloses an instrument panel support structure beneficial to front collision performance and an automobile, the instrument panel support structure comprises a first pipe fitting, a second pipe fitting and an instrument panel cross beam, one end of the first pipe fitting is fixed on the instrument panel cross beam, the second pipe fitting is partially sleeved in the first pipe fitting, and the other end of the first pipe fitting is fixed on the instrument panel cross beam. One end of the second pipe fitting extends out of the other end of the first pipe fitting and is fixed on a dash panel of an automobile body, and the distance from one end of the second pipe fitting to the other end of the first pipe fitting is not greater than the distance from the other end of the second pipe fitting to one end of the first pipe fitting; the sleeving part of the second pipe fitting is connected with the first pipe fitting through a connecting piece; and when the connecting piece loses efficacy due to stress, the extending part of the second pipe fitting can slide into the first pipe fitting. On the premise that the collision performance requirement is met, contradictions with other performance can be balanced within a certain range, and the other performance is not affected too much.
