The invention discloses a vehicle control method and device, a terminal, a medium and a program product, and relates to the field of intelligent driving. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a first distance between a master control vehicle and a front vehicle; under the condition that the master control vehicle is in the static state, responding to the fact that the first distance is larger than a starting threshold value, and determining the driving distance of the master control vehicle based on the first distance and a pause threshold value; determining an acceleration distance, a constant speed distance and a deceleration distance corresponding to the master control vehicle based on the driving distance; and controlling the main control vehicle to automatically run in the target state based on the acceleration distance, the constant speed distance and the deceleration distance which are determined in real time. It can be guaranteed that the master control vehicle keeps a safe distance from the front vehicle in the automatic driving process; when the master control vehicle runs within the speed reduction distance, kinetic energy is zero, speed reduction is achieved through friction force, the most energy-saving automatic running scheme is provided, energy consumption caused by a speed reduction mode depending on emergency braking is avoided, the utilization rate of resources is increased, and energy conservation and emission reduction are effectively achieved.
