A regenerative braking torque control system of an electric vehicle includes: a driving information setting section selecting a regenerative braking level in response to a driver's input and setting at least one of a plurality of driving modes; a seating information detector that detects seating information corresponding to the number of occupants seated on the vehicle seat and the seating position; and a controller that permits travel to be performed according to the regenerative braking level selected by the travel information setting section, reflects motor torque responsiveness according to the number of occupants and the seating position detected by the seating information detector on a regenerative braking torque, and transmits the regenerative braking torque to a motor controller to travel the vehicle.
