According to the invention, the crane is provided with a boom restraint, the boom restraint being a hydropneumatic boom restraint (108) for reducing upward pivoting of the boom (105) when the boom is in the top region, the boom restraint (108) comprising: a plurality of hydraulic cylinders (127), each having a hydraulic circuit and a cylinder rod (119), the cylinder rod (119) having a cylinder head (128), the hydraulic cylinder (127) is mounted on the crane structure (104), the cylinder head (120) is directed towards a boom (105) of the crane (101), preferably the hydraulic cylinder (127) is mounted on a bracket (105) of the crane structure (104); a catch (121) corresponding to each hydraulic cylinder (127), where each catch is mounted to the boom (105) and configured to receive a cylinder head (120) of the respective hydraulic cylinder (127), and each catch is configured to lock the cylinder head, preferably pivotably, relative to the boom when the boom is pivoted upward in the top region; a gas damper (128) for each hydraulic cylinder (127), where each gas damper (128) is mounted to a respective hydraulic cylinder (127) and is connected to a hydraulic circuit of the respective hydraulic cylinder by means of a media separator, where the gas damper (128) forces the hydraulic cylinder in an extended position, where the gas damper (128) is connected to the hydraulic circuit of the respective hydraulic cylinder by means of the media separator. The volume ratio between the hydraulic cylinder (127) and the gas dampers (128) is such that the hydraulic cylinder (127) acts as a progressive spring, for example, each gas damper has a size in the range of 1000 liters to 1400 liters, for example 1200 liters, and each hydraulic cylinder (127) has a size in the range of 800 liters to 1000 liters, for example 900 liters, preferably the ratio between the volume of the gas damper and the volume of the associated hydraulic cylinder is 4: 3.
