The invention relates to an occupancy sensing device (2) for detecting occupancy of a vehicle seat, comprising:-a flexible substrate (4) having a first main face and a second main face opposite the first main face,-a capacitive sensor with interdigital electrodes (6) capable of detecting an occupancy state of the seat,-an electrically conductive trace (8) connected to the capacitive sensor with interdigital electrodes, the capacitive sensor with interdigital electrodes and the conductive traces are fixed on a first main face of a flexible substrate, characterized in that the flexible substrate is made of an elastic and impermeable material.
