The invention relates to a handlebar assembly of an electric bicycle. The handlebar assembly comprises a basic part, a hand brake unit and a sensing part, the basic part is fixed on a handlebar bar. The hand brake unit comprises a brake handle, a push rod and a sliding piece. The brake handle is hinged to the basic part. A containing cavity is formed in the basic part. The sliding part is arranged in the containing cavity. The push rod is driven by the brake handle and used for pushing the sliding piece. The sensing part comprises a permanent magnet ring, a Hall sensor and a protective shell. The permanent magnet ring is arranged in the containing cavity and performs synchronous displacement motion along with the sliding piece. And the protective shell and the basic part can jointly enclose to form a mounting cavity for accommodating the Hall sensor. Thus, on one hand, it is ensured that the permanent magnet ring always keeps an expected running state in the displacement motion execution process, and it is ensured that the permanent magnet ring has extremely high stopping accuracy; and on the other hand, in the whole braking process, the sensing part controls the hub motor through the Hall effect, and the influence of the demagnetization phenomenon and the hysteresis effect is completely avoided.
