The present application relates to a thruster system control technique for a pontoon vessel or other vessel, in particular, for example, a marine thruster control. In addition to the outboard prime mover, the thruster system may include a plurality of thrusters for controlling movement of the pontoon vessel. The thruster may be a fixed thruster and/or a steerable thruster. In an example, the thruster may be retrieved based on identifying conditions in which the thruster may be compromised. The thruster may be deployed based on identifying conditions that the thruster may be used to recharge the associated power source. User inputs for controlling the thrusters may be adjusted to account for external forces acting on the pontoon vessel. A user interface is provided for controlling the thruster system via which an operator manipulates the moving intent line to control the thruster system. The user interface may also include an obstacle indicator to enable an operator to manipulate the pontoon vessel accordingly.
