Provided is a safety device that allows or blocks passage of passengers or pedestrians using a blocking member such as a cable. The present invention has a configuration in which the vertical pitch between the vertically arranged blocking members is reduced when the vertically arranged blocking members are raised to allow passage, and the vertical pitch between the vertically arranged blocking members is increased when the vertically arranged blocking members are raised to block passage, so that the lifting distance of the blocking members can be shortened, thereby reducing the vertical size of the device.
