The invention relates to a brake system of a vehicle, the brake system (1, 1a, 1b) having: a brake controller (17) configured for controlling a servo drive (18) for controlling a braking force; a wireless communication unit (5) configured for receiving external data; and an online receiving unit (4, 4a) which is configured for receiving vehicle data from one or more vehicle interior devices and also at least partially receiving external data, the online receiving unit (4, 4a) being further configured for identifying a necessary braking situation as online information as a function of the received external data and vehicle data; a first off-line receiving unit (6), where the first off-line receiving unit (6) is configured to receive at least a portion of the same vehicle data of the one or more vehicle interior devices and to identify a necessary braking situation as first off-line information as a function of the received vehicle data; the at least one second off-line receiving unit (19) comprises one or more sensors which are arranged to detect at least traffic events in the direction of travel as traffic data, and wherein the at least one second off-line receiving unit (19) comprises one or more sensors which are arranged to detect at least traffic events in the direction of travel as traffic data. At least one second off-line receiving unit (19) is designed to detect a necessary braking situation as second off-line information on the basis of the received traffic data; a comparator (11) configured to compare the online information with the first and second offline information and to generate a positive result or a negative result in combination with the comparison and to transmit the positive result to the brake controller (17) in order to activate the brake controller (17) when the positive result is generated. The invention also relates to a vehicle having such a brake system.
