In a stud (P) having a body section (10) embedded in the tread section of a tire, a head section (11) protruding from the tip side of the body section (10), and a flange section (12) disposed on the base end side of the body section (10), the cross-sectional area of the body section (10) in a plane orthogonal to the central axis (X) thereof varies along the central axis (X) of the body section (10). The cross-sectional area (Sa) at the maximum width position of the torso section (10) and the cross-sectional area (Sb) at the topmost position of the torso section (10) satisfy the relationship 0.30 < = Sb/Sa < = 0.80. In a tire (T), studs (P) are disposed on a tread portion (21).
