The driving mechanism comprises a power assembly, a traction rope, a first rolling piece and a second rolling piece, the first rolling piece and the second rolling piece are rotationally arranged at the two ends of the bottom plate respectively, the traction rope is arranged on the two rolling pieces in a sleeving mode, and the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate are fixed to the traction rope. The power assembly is used for driving the traction rope to move so as to drive the first sliding plate and the second sliding plate to get close to each other or get away from each other. According to the portal crane, a motor, a synchronous belt, a synchronous belt clamp, a synchronous belt driven adjusting wheel assembly and the like in a traditional portal crane structure are omitted, the portal crane structure directly provides force to be applied to the traction rope through the power assembly, the portal crane structure is greatly simplified, and meanwhile the size of the portal crane bottom plate can be reduced.
