The variable wheelbase structure comprises a frame, a suspension mounting seat and a wheelbase change driver, one end of the wheelbase change driver is fixed to the frame, the other end of the wheelbase change driver is fixed to the suspension mounting seat, the suspension mounting seat comprises two supporting frames and a connecting plate connected with the supporting frames, and each supporting frame is connected with a sliding block and provided with a locking mechanism. Two sliding ways are fixed to the lower portion of the vehicle frame and attached to the two supporting frames respectively, so that the suspension mounting base and the sliding block can slide along the sliding ways, and the locking mechanism is used for connecting the sliding ways and the supporting frames and limiting the suspension mounting base and the vehicle frame after the wheelbase is adjusted to the preset position. The wheel base variable device is simple in structure, high in bearing capacity and suitable for heavy vehicles and particularly suitable for wheel base variable technical schemes of wheel cranes, and therefore the problem of axle load overload under the heavy load transition working condition of the wheel cranes is solved.
