The invention relates to a tilt rotor propulsion system for an aircraft. A method for operating a propulsion system of an aircraft includes moving a plurality of forward propellers and aft propellers to a vertical thrust position. When in the vertical thrust position, the method further includes providing a first fore-aft electrical power ratio to the plurality of fore and aft propellers. The method further includes moving the plurality of forward thrusters and aft thrusters to a forward thrust position. When in the forward thrust position, the method further includes providing a second forward-to-aft electrical power ratio to the plurality of forward propellers and aft propellers. The first fore-aft electrical power ratio is different from the second fore-aft electrical power ratio to provide certain efficiency for the aircraft.
