The invention discloses a crane and an operation method, relates to the field of engineering machinery, and aims to improve the hoisting performance of the crane. The crane comprises a frame assembly, a crawler belt and a supporting leg assembly. The crawler belt is installed on the frame assembly. The supporting leg assembly is mounted on the frame assembly; wherein the landing leg assembly is configured to provide support for the crane when the crane works. According to the crane provided by the technical scheme, the crawler belt is used for realizing walking and transition transportation of the crane. The landing leg assembly is used for providing support when the crane works, and the size of the landing leg assembly can be set to be large enough. The larger the size of the supporting leg assembly is, the higher the bearing capacity is, and the lifting requirement of the super-tonnage crane can be met.
