The method comprises the steps that in the running process of the hybrid electric vehicle, if an engine is in a working state and a torque structure is activated, the pedal opening degree at the current moment is obtained; determining a pedal rate change curve, wherein the pedal rate change curve represents the change rate of the pedal opening degree of the hybrid electric vehicle at different moments; if the slope corresponding to the current moment in the pedal rate change curve is larger than a reference threshold value, the required torque at the current moment is determined based on the pedal opening at the current moment; based on the required torque at the current moment, the required throttle opening at the current moment is determined; and determining the required throttle opening degree at the current moment as the actual throttle opening degree of the hybrid electric vehicle at the current moment. By controlling the opening degree of the throttle valve of the hybrid electric vehicle, sudden change of torque is avoided, and user experience is improved.
