The invention relates to the technical field of vehicle system auxiliary driving, in particular to an intelligent vehicle following method and a vehicle auxiliary driving system thereof. The method comprises the following steps: starting a car following mode, and detecting whether traffic light conditions can be obtained; if yes, when the traffic light state is green and the front vehicle distance state is greater than the preset distance, entering a low-speed vehicle following state; if not, the current vehicle distance state is larger than the preset distance, and a low-speed vehicle following state is started; wherein the low-speed car following state is low-speed driving and keeps a preset distance from the front car. The function of judging whether the vehicle follows the vehicle or not is achieved by recognizing the state of the traffic light and the distance state of the front vehicle, the situation that the driver misses the driving time due to watching a mobile phone and consequently the rear vehicle is congested can be effectively prevented, and the situation that the driver sees that the traffic light is about to turn into the green light and is busy to start and consequently traffic accidents are caused is prevented; and the problem that the driver feels tired due to frequently stepping on the brake on a congested road section is solved.

    本发明涉及汽车系统辅助驾驶的技术领域,更具体的,涉及一种智能跟车方法及其车辆辅助驾驶系统。其包括:开启跟车模式,检测是否能够获取交通灯情况;若是,当交通灯状态处于绿灯且前车距离状态大于预设距离,进入低速跟车状态;若否,当前车距离状态大于预设距离,进入低速跟车状态;其中,低速跟车状态为低速行驶并与前车保持预定距离。本发明通过识别交通灯的状态和前车的距离状态来实现判断车辆是否跟车的功能,其可以有效地防止驾驶者因为观看手机错过行驶时间而导致后面车辆的拥堵,防止驾驶者看到交通灯即将变为绿灯而急忙起步导致交通事故,减少驾驶者在拥堵路段频繁踩刹车而脚部疲惫的问题。
