The invention provides an electric vehicle charging early warning method and device. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a destination position, a driving habit of a driver, a road congestion coefficient and a current vehicle remaining electric quantity; estimating power consumption according to the driving habit of the driver, the destination position and the road congestion coefficient; judging whether the vehicle can arrive at the destination position according to the current remaining electric quantity and power consumption of the vehicle; if not, calculating to-be-charged required electric quantity according to the current remaining electric quantity and power consumption of the vehicle; and outputting charging early warning information including the required electric quantity. Therefore, according to the method, charging early warning can be carried out in time during route navigation, and the situation that the electric vehicle breaks down in the driving process is avoided.
