An aircraft (1) comprises a wing (5) having a fixed wing (7) with a wing tip device (9) mounted at the tip end of the fixed wing in a rotatable manner about a hinge (11). The wing tip device (9) is operable between a flight configuration and a load mitigation configuration for load mitigation during flight. The aircraft (1) comprises a restriction assembly (17) operable between a restriction mode in which the wing tip device is held in the flying configuration with a restriction force, such as by a brake (19), and a release mode in which the force on the wing tip device is released such that the wing tip device (9) can assume a load mitigation configuration.
