The invention provides a temperature measurement system and method for an underwater robot. The system comprises a winch and an umbilical cable. The umbilical cable is configured to be connected with the underwater robot; the winch comprises a winding drum and a rotating shaft, the winding drum can rotate around the rotating shaft, the umbilical cable is partially wound around the outer wall of the winding drum, a first photoelectric slip ring is arranged on the rotating shaft, and a first optical fiber temperature measuring unit is arranged on the inner wall of the winding drum. The first fiber thermometry unit is configured to measure a temperature of the umbilical cable. In the invention, the first optical fiber temperature measurement unit is directly connected with the optical fiber in the umbilical cable without passing through the first photoelectric slip ring, so that the distortion of temperature measurement caused by the first photoelectric slip ring can be avoided, and the accuracy of temperature measurement is improved.
