This permanent magnet cage (1) is provided with: a first magnet (3) having a small coercive force; a second magnet (4) which is a rare earth magnet having a large coercive force and is formed in a ring shape; and a coil (5) that magnetizes the first magnets by being energized, the first magnets (3) being configured such that magnetic pole surfaces of different magnetic poles face each other in the axial direction of the axis (alpha), and the second magnets (4) being configured such that magnetic pole surfaces of different magnetic poles face each other in the axial direction of the axis (alpha) and disposed outside the first magnets in the radial direction of the axis (alpha). The first magnet (3), the second magnet (4), and the coil (5) are disposed so as to overlap in the radial direction of the axial center (alpha), and the magnetization direction of the first magnet (3) is switched by energizing the coil (5) when switching the suction opening/closing state, thereby performing a switching operation of the suction opening/closing state.
