The present invention addresses the problem of monitoring the wear state of a winch drum. This monitoring device for a winch drum (361) is provided with: monitoring means (611, 628) for monitoring whether or not wear generation conditions for the winch drum (361) are satisfied; and a notification means (622) that performs notification in response to the establishment of the wear generation condition. For example, a monitoring mechanism monitors the layer arrangement state of the steel wire rope (32) wound around the winch drum (361), and the condition that the first layer of steel wire rope (32) wound around the winch drum (361) is used or the condition that the movement amount of the steel wire rope (32) when the position of a drum flange (363) of the winch drum (361) is used meets a specified condition can be taken as a wear generation condition.
