According to the pole changing operation system and method of the aluminum electrolysis multifunctional crown block driving unit, a planar motion mechanism is installed on a trolley, a tool rotating device is installed on the planar motion mechanism, a lifting driving unit is arranged on the tool rotating device, and the lifting driving unit is provided with a universal connecting mechanism capable of being connected with an anode changing device, a slag salvaging mechanism and a crust breaking mechanism. The universal connecting mechanism is T-shaped, the fixing frame is mounted at the lower part of the trolley, and the anode replacing device, the slag salvaging mechanism and the crust breaking mechanism are suspended and fixed on the fixing frame; during pole changing operation, the cart reaches a designated position, the cart and the trolley stop acting, the planar movement mechanism drives the tool rotating device to drive the lifting driving unit to achieve horizontal movement and rotating movement in a plane, and replacement of operation tools and operation tasks after replacement are completed through the universal connecting mechanism of the lifting driving unit.
