The invention discloses an active transverse stabilizing device with continuously adjustable rigidity and a method. The device comprises a first planetary gear device and a second planetary gear device, the first planetary gear device comprises a left stabilizer bar, a left sun gear, a left planet carrier, a fixing point and a left gear ring. The second planetary gear device comprises a right gear ring, a right planet carrier, a motor, a right sun gear and a right stabilizer bar; a sun gear on the left side of the first planetary gear device is connected with a fixed point through a hollow shaft; a sun gear on the right side of the second planetary gear device is connected with a motor through a hollow shaft; a left-side stabilizing rod of the first planetary gear device penetrates through a left-side sun gear and is connected with a left-side planet carrier; a right-side stabilizing rod of the second planetary gear device penetrates through a right-side sun gear and is connected with a right-side planet carrier; a left gear ring of the first planetary gear device is fixedly connected with a right gear ring of the second planetary gear device.
