The controller is programmed to command a torque of the engine based on a set speed of an adaptive cruise control, and is programmed to command a torque of the engine in response to the adaptive cruise control being active, the measured lateral acceleration of the vehicle during a road curve exceeds a user-defined lateral acceleration threshold and the accelerator pedal is released, reducing the speed of the vehicle below the set speed until the measured lateral acceleration is less than the lateral acceleration threshold.
