An active aerodynamic system for a vehicle includes: a movable outer member disposed on a force sensor responsive to an aerodynamic force applied to an outer surface; and a plurality of linear actuators of the two or more linear actuators, the linear actuators configured to move the movable outer member in response to a force applied to the outer surface. The controller is configured to detect an aerodynamic force applied to the movable outer component and command the linear actuator to move the movable outer component in response to the aerodynamic force applied to the movable outer component. The controller may account for other factors, such as vehicle speed, when determining a setting for the position of the movable exterior component and/or to determine a desired amount of aerodynamic force that the movable exterior component should have.
