The detection device is connected to a traffic signal controller, comprises a plurality of groups of detection interfaces, a working circuit and an energy storage battery, judges whether a current intersection signal lamp has a fault or not through monitoring data changes, and makes a response: when a power failure occurs, the detection device automatically switches the energy storage battery to supply power, and detects that the fault reaches a certain time length, and the detection is finished. The working circuit reports a fault, and an energy storage battery can be switched through a remote command to temporarily supply power to the traffic signal lamp; when the timing fault occurs, the fault is detected to reach a certain time length, the working circuit reports the fault, and the timing of the signal machine can be adjusted by remotely writing a command; and when other faults occur, the fault detection reaches a certain duration, and the working circuit reports the faults and uploads abnormal data. According to the invention, the influence of the fault of the traffic signal lamp on road traffic is reduced, the fault repair efficiency is improved, and the convenience of timing adjustment of the signal lamp is improved.
