A child-mother unmanned aerial vehicle system comprises a child unmanned aerial vehicle and a mother unmanned aerial vehicle. A carrying platform is arranged at the top of the mother unmanned aerial vehicle, and the carrying platform is provided with a vehicle arm locking mechanism; the carrying platform is used for carrying the sub-unmanned aerial vehicle; the vehicle arm locking mechanism is used for locking and unlocking vehicle arms of the auxiliary unmanned aerial vehicle. When the mother unmanned aerial vehicle carries the son unmanned aerial vehicle to a designated airspace, the arms of the son unmanned aerial vehicle are unlocked through the arm locking mechanism, and release of the son unmanned aerial vehicle is achieved so as to complete a reconnaissance task. When the child unmanned aerial vehicle completes the task but the remaining power is not enough to return, the mother unmanned aerial vehicle can be dispatched to carry the child unmanned aerial vehicle back, so that the child unmanned aerial vehicle is prevented from being crashed due to power failure. Therefore, the mother unmanned aerial vehicle carries the child unmanned aerial vehicle to start and return voyage, the demand of the child unmanned aerial vehicle for electric quantity is effectively reduced, the size of the child unmanned aerial vehicle is reduced, and the flying capability of the child unmanned aerial vehicle in a complex geographical environment is improved.
