The invention relates to a method for operating an electropneumatic parking brake module (10, 10 ', 10' ') of an electronically controllable pneumatic brake system (204) of a vehicle (200), in particular a commercial vehicle (202), comprising: a reserve interface (20) for receiving a reserve pressure (pV); at least one parking brake interface (21) for coupling at least one parking brake cylinder (24); a main valve unit (50) for receiving the reserve pressure (pV), the main valve unit being designed to control the spring accumulator pressure (pF) at the parking brake interface (21) as a function of the control pressure (pS); and a pilot control valve arrangement (70) receiving the reserve pressure (pV) and for providing a control pressure (pS), the pilot control valve arrangement (70) having a bistable valve (72) switchable between a first intake position (72A) and a second exhaust position (72B); and a control unit (300) for providing the first and second switching signals (S1, S2) on the pilot control valve arrangement (70).
