A passenger safety get-off assist apparatus and a method thereof acquire information of an obstacle around a vehicle and a speed at which a vehicle door is opened, set a virtual first line along the obstacle, and control the speed at which the vehicle door is opened based on at least one of the first line and the speed at which the vehicle door is opened. The device and the method provide a plurality of safe getting-off modes for customers, so that the customers can freely select the modes and experience safe getting-off.
