The present disclosure relates to a method, apparatus and system for forming a composite structure. The mandrel system includes a frame, a section, a connection system, and a sealing system. The section is connected to the frame. The section provides an inner mold line for the composite material structure. A connection system connects the segments to the frame. A sealing system seals the segments to the segment joints at locations where the segments are coupled to each other.
