The present application provides a control unit for starting an internal combustion engine of an extended range electric vehicle, the extended range electric vehicle comprising: a motor, a power battery, an internal combustion engine, and a generator wherein the control unit comprises: a receiving module configured to receive a request to start the internal combustion engine; the judgment module is configured to judge whether the charge capacity of the power battery is larger than or equal to a preset threshold value or not; the electric power control module is configured to control the generator to rotate by utilizing the electric power of the power battery when the charge capacity is equal to or greater than a preset threshold value so as to drive the internal combustion engine to operate; and the fuel control module is configured to control a fuel injection device of the internal combustion engine not to inject fuel into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine when the rotating speed of the internal combustion engine is smaller than the idling speed of the internal combustion engine. The invention further provides an internal combustion engine starting method of the extended-range electric vehicle and a computer readable storage medium. According to the technical scheme, fuel oil can be saved, the cost is reduced, and emission is reduced.
