The invention relates to a battery system comprising: at least one battery pack having a negative electrode, a positive electrode, at least one battery cell; at least one coupling network having a first negative terminal and a first positive terminal; a battery voltage divider and a coupling voltage divider; wherein the first positive terminal can be connected to the positive pole via a positive main switch and/or the first negative terminal can be connected to the negative pole via a negative main switch, and wherein the battery voltage divider comprises: a positive battery measuring resistor and a positive sub-battery measuring resistor, which are connected in series to one another and can be separated from the positive pole or from the first reference point; and a negative battery measuring resistor and a negative sub-battery measuring resistor, which are connected in series to one another and can be separated from the negative electrode or the first reference point, the coupled voltage divider comprising: a positive coupled measuring resistor and a positive sub-coupled measuring resistor, which are connected in series to one another; a negative coupling measuring resistor and a negative sub-coupling measuring resistor, which are connected in series with each other.
