A switching circuit for an electric vehicle (EV) includes a first branch of the switching circuit including a first switch and a second switch receiving a first phase of three-phase alternating current (AC) power; a second branch of the switching circuit including a first switch and a second switch that receives a second phase of the three-phase AC power; a third branch of the switching circuit including a first switch and a second switch receiving a third phase of the three-phase AC power; and a capacitor branch having two or more capacitors electrically connected in parallel with the first branch, the second branch, and the third branch of the switching circuit, wherein the capacitor allows a zero sequence current to flow through the first leg, the second leg, and the third leg when the three-phase AC power is applied to the circuit.
