The invention relates to an airport vehicle with an anti-collision system and a method for operating the vehicle. The vehicle includes: a distance sensor; the 3D sensor system comprises two independent 3D sensors; a brake activation system arranged for activating a brake system of the vehicle; an operator visual indication system; and an anti-collision processing system for controlling the visual indication system according to sensing parameters from the distance sensor and the 3D sensor, and for controlling the brake activation system according to the sensing parameters such that the visual indication system and the brake activation system are activated when a predetermined minimum distance is sensed by the distance sensor, and the brake activation system is activated when the predetermined minimum distance is sensed by the 3D sensor. When the 3D sensor senses the aircraft part, the visual indication system and/or the brake starting system are/is started; wherein the brake activation system is arranged to control the brake system of the vehicle independently of any control or activation of the driveline of the vehicle.
