The lane keeping assist apparatus includes: a state machine unit configured to trigger an LKA torque intervention mode in response to vehicle information; and a path planning unit configured to plan a vehicle path in the triggered LKA torque intervention mode and generate an instruction for adjusting the torque intervention intensity based on the planned vehicle path. The lane keeping assist method includes receiving vehicle information and triggering an LKA torque intervention mode in response to the vehicle information; a vehicle path is planned in response to the triggered LKA torque intervention mode, and instructions for adjusting the torque intervention intensity are generated based on the planned vehicle path.
